Blog 5: Reflection
a) What have you learned about the processes of conducting a sound research study in class? I learned that the process of designing research is not all too difficult, but it is definitely time-consuming. This process has given me an appreciation for what goes into good research: Much of what you do not see happens behind the scenes, and if I'm allowed to stretch the metaphor, the final performance requires many rehearsals and script revisions. Not to be corny, but like any creative endeavor, the beauty of research often results from how flawed it is. A skilled researcher knows when to step away, although the work will always feels incomplete. b) What have these processes taught you about your future roles as a technical and professional communicator? Designing research has helped me become a more critical consumer of research.
